During my tenor of living in Tangalle, Sri Lanka, Hinds Kaftans embarked on multiple initiatives to work with the local community in the villages and town, to provide the skills and education required to learn a trade that can provide income and development. Hinds Kaftans teamed up with the ladies of the community to teach and develop skills of sewing and fabric selection to continue the limited collection of kaftans being produced. In 2017, this initiative, not only grew in number, but also, provided workshops that community ladies grew the confidence to open individual sewing labs and local small business that tourists embarked on buying local arts and crafts, as well as, fabrics.

I believe in the art of compassion and giving and this is my way to give back to the ladies of Tangalle, the place I called home, with its beautiful people and places.
